Studio Guidelines
GB Voice Studio caters to each student's specific singing and performance needs. While most students are developing skills to become a strong solo performer, the studio recognizes that there can be many reasons one wishes to build musical confidence. The recitals and other performance opportunities provided by GB Voice Studio can offer both soloists and group performers a positive learning experience. Additionally, some students wish to take lessons just for an audition or one-time performance. Some just wish to hone a few skills. A potential student always has a first-time meeting, free of charge, so they can learn what to expect from a lesson, the Studio can learn about their goals, and musical skills can be preliminarily evaluated.
Here are the Studio Guidelines for both Student and Instructor. Students1). Students are expected to be on time and prepared. They should bring their music, instructional book/papers, pencil, water and a positive attitude .
2). Students are expected to practice a minimum of three times per week for 20+ minutes. They should begin with warm-up exercises for the first 5 minutes, followed by practicing their song or workbook pages a minimum of 3-4 times. To achieve the most success, students should incorporate notes given them during lessons. 3). The Studio operates on a semester system. Fall (Sept-Dec) and Winter (Jan-April) sessions include 12 lessons each. The Summer (May-August) session includes 10 lessons. Tuition is due at the first lesson for each semester. Semesters can be divided into 2 equal payments due at the first and seventh lessons for a $10 fee. Students receive an emailed invoice that can be paid online with Paypal, or by cash or check payable to GB Voice Studio. The Studio also offers an automatic payment option. Tuition will be pro-rated for students beginning in the middle of a session. 4). Unused lessons will NOT be refunded at the end of a semester. The Studio offers 2 make-up lessons for all sessions. Lessons canceled by the teacher will always be made-up. 5). Voice students need both sheet music and accompaniment in the same key to properly prepare for singing. Part of the fee goes toward sheet music, and either karaoke or piano accompaniment on a flash drive or CD. 6). Instructor will use a method book, pages from other instructional books, or will recommend a method book and/or music for the student to purchase as necessary. 7). With few exceptions, students are expected to participate in performances. A performance is an important event that challenges the student in ways not achieved during lessons. The Studio offers a Recital after the Winter session, and other singing opportunities throughout the year for an additional fee. A solo in choir, participation in a talent contest, or a role in a musical are examples of good performance opportunities. 8). If you need to cancel a lesson contact the Studio at least 24 hours prior to the lesson. Reminder texts are sent the evening before each lesson. Make-up lessons will be coordinated at a mutually beneficial time. Lessons canceled the day of will be charged. 9). A student may be dismissed from the Studio for one or more of the following reasons: non-payment of fees; harassing behavior that's physical, emotional or sexual; inability to participate in lessons; in excess of 4 missed lessons per term; taking lessons from another teacher. 10). Please contact me right away should you have any concerns whatsoever. It is my goal to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for each student’s musical ability to develop and grow. Please allow me and/or your teacher the opportunity to address your issues so we can assure a positive experience! Thank you for choosing GB Voice Studio for your musical instruction! |
